Our pre-school programs begin at age 3 to 5 years old. In these programs, the curriculum includes arts and crafts, music, stories, and creative play, as well as an orientation to letters, numbers, shapes, sizes, colors and time concepts. The pre-kindergarten program also includes an introduction to phonics, printing and simple mathematics. The children have outside play as well as field trips and play-in-the-park days. In addition, classes enjoy varied experiences with cooking, dance and gardening. Our primary goal is to help children become successful learners. At this age they are refining and enhancing their academic skills while continuing to develop their social, emotional and physical skills. Socially we encourage the children to be kind and helpful and show respect for the feelings and opinions of others. We help them to develop patience, self-discipline, and pride in themselves and their accomplishments. To encourage physical development we offer indoor and outdoor activities for the children, which help, develop and control their large and small muscles as well as release excess energy. We stress the importance of health and safety in everything we do. Our program is tailored to the individual needs and abilities of each child with the ultimate goal of building independence and self-confidence. Our curriculum is organized into themes per month. Each topic is familiar to the children and we then add more complex activities to keep challenging them and giving them the opportunity to grow from it. Each weekly theme incorporates language (writing name, recognizing letters), mathematics (recognizing numbers, sorting…), art projects according to the theme, music, small and large motor skills. At Small World, our team of teachers provides your child with learning development, love, care and positive guidance throughout the day. They encourage the children to explore their imagination and challenge their learning capability with a lot of “hands on” projects and high participation activities.
